118th Street North St. Pete walkways
Front walks on 118th Street North often run from a cracked sidewalk joint to a raised porch, with oak or ficus roots pushing the concrete in the middle. The result is a trip edge at the city walk and a pond at the bottom step after every storm.
Walkway rebuild, not a skim coat
We remove the broken ribbon, protect the roots we can, and bridge the ones we cannot with a thicker base and a joint pattern that can be lifted later. The walk is pitched off the porch so water does not sit against the stem wall. Width is kept comfortable for a grocery trip and a lawn mower, usually 3 to 4 feet, with a landing at the steps.
Details that matter here
Match the sidewalk elevation so the apron of the walk does not create a lip.
Use a textured paver that stays walkable when summer rain is still on the surface.
Set a border course so edging grass does not swallow the field.
Leave a clean joint at irrigation heads and hose bibs instead of burying them.
If the 118th Street North walk is heaving or holding water, PaverForge can reset it. Call (727) 490-9798.
