134th Street North St. Pete Driveway Aprons | PaverForge

134th Street North sits in northeast St. Petersburg, on the sandy fill between Riviera Bay and Shore Acres. Driveway aprons here take boat-trailer traffic, oak-root heave, and summer downpours that sheet toward the gutter. PaverForge builds those aprons in concrete pavers so the joint sand and edge restraint stay put when the truck leaves.

What the apron has to do

The apron is the short run from the garage or carport to the street. On this block the public sidewalk is often a separate pour, and the private apron has to meet it without a trip lip. We set the slope so water leaves the slab and does not pond at the garage door, then lock the field with a concrete edge beam where the shell base would otherwise creep.

  • Excavate to a stable shell or crushed-concrete base, not loose sugar sand.

  • Match the sidewalk and gutter so the city walk is not undercut.

  • Leave a sleeve path for irrigation and low-voltage lighting before the pavers go down.

  • Use a polymeric or stabilized joint so trailer tires do not vacuum the sand out.

Repairs after a utility cut

Water and sewer laterals on these older northeast streets get replaced in short trenches. A patched asphalt apron usually sinks at the cut. A paver apron can be lifted, the base recompacted, and the same units reset. Call PaverForge at 727-490-9798 or see paverforge.com/services for apron, walkway, and courtyard work across Pinellas.

We measure the existing sidewalk joint, check for a low spot at the garage threshold, and price the apron as its own scope so it is not buried inside a whole-yard quote.
