138th Street North St. Pete Driveway Aprons | PaverForge
138th Street North aprons are a right-of-way problem as much as a yard problem. The sidewalk, the gutter, and the private drive meet in a few feet of sandy subgrade. PaverForge rebuilds that meeting point in pavers when the asphalt patch has sunk or the concrete apron has cracked at the sidewalk joint.
Slope to the gutter
Water from the drive should reach the gutter, not the sidewalk joints. We shoot the existing gutter elevation first, then set the apron so the cross-slope is gentle enough for a walker and steep enough to shed a thunderstorm. A birdbath at the sidewalk is the failure we are hired to undo.
Confirm the sidewalk joint before the base goes in.
Thicken the edge at the street so the first paver course does not roll.
Keep a record of any sleeve under the apron for a future irrigation bore.
Match color to the existing walk or court so the apron does not read as a patch.
Trailer and guest parking
Several homes on this street park a second vehicle or a small boat trailer half on the apron. The base is compacted for that point load, not for foot traffic alone. PaverForge, 727-490-9798, paverforge.com/services.
We flag any apron that crosses a city sidewalk so the owner knows which square is private work and which square stays with the city.
