146th Street North St. Pete Driveway Aprons

146th Street North sits in northeast St. Petersburg, where the lots are residential, the right-of-way is tight, and a summer storm still dumps water toward the apron. A thin sand bed under the first car length is the usual failure.

What the apron has to do

The apron takes the turn off the street, the trailer tongue, and the first hard brake. We size the compacted aggregate base for cars, not for a patio footpath, and we keep the paver edge locked where it meets the city approach.

Pitch runs to the street or to a drain that already works. A flat apron ponds at the garage and sends joint sand out in the first wash. Edge restraint is spiked into the base, not laid on loose sand.

How we build it

We cut a clean line at sound pavers, rebuild the failed base, and reuse units that are still square. Joint sand is compacted in so it locks instead of washing into the gutter. Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 with a photo of the street frontage and the low spot. We walk the apron before we lock a number.
