15th Street NE Old Northeast walkways
15th Street NE walkways are the narrow run from the front gate or the driveway to the seawall steps. On a lot this tight, a 30-inch path is too narrow for a trash cart and a person at the same time, and it is too narrow for a pool-equipment dolly.
Clear width and grade
Old Northeast side yards often share the path with a condenser, a meter bank, and a hose bib. The walkway has to stay a walkway. We set the equipment on its own pad, then build the path beside it with a consistent width and a pitch that does not send roof water into the house crawl or the neighbor fence.
Keep at least a cart-width clear of the condenser pad and the meter
Step the grade in short landings if the lot drops to the bulkhead
Flush irrigation valve boxes so a mower or a cart does not catch a lid
Edge restraint on both sides so the path does not creep into the planting bed
Why these paths settle
The path is often the only dry route to the water. Foot traffic, a pressure-washer cart, and the occasional contractor wheelbarrow all ride the same strip. A sand-set field with no compacted base cups in the middle and ponds at the house. We rebuild the base, not just the surface, and we keep the finished walk below any wood threshold so water does not kick back at the door.
If the walk crosses a downspout discharge, we add a splash block or a short channel so the joint sand is not the drain. PaverForge Hardscapes plans the path before the pavers arrive. Call 727-490-9798 or review services at https://www.paverforge.com/services.
