160th Street North St. Pete Walkways

Front walkways on 160th Street North in north St. Petersburg are short, shaded, and often the only dry path from the drive to the door. When the walk settles, it ponds at the step and grows a green film after every irrigation cycle. PaverForge resets and rebuilds those walks in pavers with a base that can take foot traffic and the occasional hand truck.

Many of these walks were poured as a thin ribbon on sand. Roots lift one panel, the next panel drops, and the joint becomes a trip. A paver walk lets us lift and relevel a section without replacing the whole run, as long as the base under it was built to be lifted.

We excavate to a consistent depth, compact, and set edge restraint on both sides so the field cannot spread into the lawn. Cross-slope is kept gentle. Longitudinal slope follows the yard, with a slight fall away from the house at the landing. Steps, if the grade needs them, get a uniform riser so the walk does not surprise anyone at night.

Lighting sleeves and irrigation crossings are sleeved before the base is closed. Cutting a finished walk to chase a wire is how hairline settlement starts. If a hose bib lands in the path, we leave a flush collar rather than butting pavers against the pipe.

  • Match the door landing so the walk does not rise into the threshold.

  • Sleeve utilities before the base is compacted.

  • Use a border course where the lawn mower would otherwise chip the edge.
