164th Street North St. Pete Aprons
164th Street North sits in the northeast St. Petersburg grid, closer to the bay than to downtown. Lots are narrow, shoulders are soft, and the apron is the only piece of the drive the city really sees.
What fails first
A thin concrete apron on beach sand cracks at the gutter, then the paver field behind it dishes. We cut the throat to a clean line, compact crushed base in lifts, and set 80mm pavers so a passenger car does not roll the edge into the swale.
Pitch goes to the street, not back at the garage. Edge restraint stays off the neighbor grass. Irrigation boxes in the apron get a flush collar so a mower does not catch a lid.
