169th Street North walks often cross a yard that is a few inches lower than the sidewalk. Shade and irrigation keep the sand soft. A thin paver skin telegraphs every footstep.
What we set
Compacted base, a real edge, and pitch that takes porch water away from the door. Flush transitions at the sidewalk so the path does not become a trip.
If a downspout lands on the walk, we move the discharge or give it a splash pad. We do not hide it under the field.
