183rd Street North St. Pete Courtyards
Courtyards on 183rd Street North are usually the space between the house and a detached garage, shaded by one oak and edged by planters that already heaved the last sand-set field. Access is a side gate, not a dump-truck path. Material has to come through in buckets.
How we build a tight courtyard
We measure the gate before we quote the stone. If a plate compactor will not pass, the base is built in lifts with a jumping jack and checked with a straightedge, not guessed from the street. Planter walls get a separation layer so irrigation does not pump fines up into the bedding.
The field falls to a drain or to the side-yard swale, never toward the stucco. Edge restraint is hidden under the border so the courtyard still reads as one plane. Polymeric sand is kept off the planter faces so it does not haze the block.
Gate-width access planned before the first pallet lands
Base compacted in lifts where a machine cannot enter
Separation at planter edges so irrigation does not pump fines
Positive fall away from the house wall
