195th Street North St. Pete Courtyards
195th Street North courtyards are usually boxed in by the house, a side fence, and a short setback. Stormwater has nowhere to go if the field is flat or pitched back at the slab. We treat the courtyard as a drainage pan first and a sitting surface second.
Base before furniture
Barrier-island and north-county sand does not lock a paver field by itself. We excavate, place and compact aggregate, and set the bedding so the finished surface clears door thresholds without a dam. Downspouts are tied to a legal outfall or a trapped drain, not dumped onto the new field.
Pitch to a drain or a side swale, never back at the stem wall
Keep a service path so pool or A/C equipment can still be pulled
Use a rigid edge against soil so the border course does not creep
Choose a through-body color that will not fade to a painted face in one summer
If an older courtyard was set on sand only, we rebuild the base and reuse sound pavers when the thickness still matches. A re-lay on the same thin bed just repeats the settlement.
