199th Street North St. Pete Walkways
199th Street North walks connect a short front setback to a side gate that is often the real entrance. Irrigation heads, mailbox posts, and a low oak root are the usual conflicts. We locate them before the base is ordered.
Pitch and edges
A walk that is dead level holds water against the slab. We set a cross-slope to a swale or a flush drain, and we restrain both edges so the field cannot spread into the lawn. Roots are bridged only when a cut would damage the tree; otherwise the base is built around a clean excavation.
Flush transition at the stoop and at the gate slab
Sleeve utilities before pavers go down
Compacted aggregate, not a sand-only bed
A color that matches the apron if both are in the same view from the street
North-county sun still bleaches a face mix. Through-body pavers are the default on these walks.
