226th Street North St. Pete Walkways
Walkway pavers on 226th Street North in St. Petersburg run from the sidewalk to a porch, often over a root and a low spot that stays wet after a gulf storm.
A thin sand bed over that root heaves by the next summer. We cut the conflict, build a real base, and pitch the walk to the yard.
Front walk details
The sidewalk joint stays flush. A lip at the public walk is a trip, and it is the first thing a buyer sees.
An irrigation sleeve goes in before the base. A later cut through a finished walk leaves a scar and a soft spot.
Porch steps stay even. We do not feather a tall rise into the last course and call it a ramp.
