243rd Street North St. Pete Courtyards
Courtyards on 243rd Street North in St. Petersburg sit low between the house and a screen cage. Summer rain has nowhere to go if the field is dead level.
A pretty border does not fix that. Water against the slider is a base and pitch problem.
How we pitch the court
We drop the field a small amount toward a drain that already works, or toward a low edge that leaves the cage.
The base is compacted aggregate, not bedding sand over fill that settled. Edge restraint stays on the bed side so soil does not push the border in.
If a downspout dumps on the court, we frame a splash point instead of letting the joint sand wash out.
