24th Street NE Old Northeast aprons
24th Street NE aprons are the short slope from the garage or carport to a sidewalk that has settled away from the old concrete. The lip ponds in a summer storm and becomes the spot where a bike pedal and a car tire both catch.
Positive fall, private side only
The repair stays on the lot. The public brick or asphalt joint is the line we do not cut. Base is rebuilt so the apron meets the sidewalk and still falls to the gutter, not back toward the garage. A soldier course and a pinned edge let the city reset the curb later without taking the driveway with it.
Where the sidewalk itself has dropped, the apron is set to today's walk, not to a memory of the original slab. Matching a ghost elevation just recreates the lip. If the walk is scheduled for a city reset, the apron edge is left restrained and liftable so the two repairs can meet.
Drainage at the gutter
Old Northeast gutters are shallow. An apron that dumps a sheet of water across the sidewalk is as bad as a pond. A slight cross-fall into the gutter, and a clean joint at the sidewalk, keeps the sheet off the walk. No trench drain is required on a short apron unless the garage is below the street.
PaverForge resets these aprons across the Old Northeast grid. The brick street stays closed, and the garage threshold stops being a step.
