26th Street NE Old Northeast aprons

Aprons on 26th Street NE, where the grid meets the bayou

26th Street NE sits at the north edge of Old Northeast, a short run from Coffee Pot Bayou. The lots are older, the right-of-way is tight, and the apron is often the first thing that fails when summer rain sits on a thin sand bed. PaverForge Hardscapes rebuilds those driveway aprons from our St. Pete Beach shop so the field stays locked after the wet season.

What we see on this street is a short apron between a brick or concrete street and a raised garage slab. Cars brake on that short run. If the base was patio sand, the first row creeps toward the gutter and the joints open. We excavate to a driveway section, compact aggregate in lifts, and set edge restraint that does not walk out when the bayou water table is high.

Pitch, salt, and the city apron line

Old Northeast aprons have to shed water to the street, not back at the garage. We pitch the field that way and keep the joint sand locked after compaction. Salt air on this end of the neighborhood is harder on metal edge than a mainland lot, so the restraint and the first course are detailed for that, not copied from an inland spec.

Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. Send photos of the apron, the gutter, and the garage threshold. We walk the lot before we lock a number. Driveway and patio guides on this blog use the same sequence.

Service area includes Old Northeast, Snell Isle, Shore Acres, and the rest of Pinellas from our St. Pete Beach shop at paverforge.com/services.
