270th Street North Crystal Beach Aprons
Aprons on 270th Street North in Crystal Beach settle at the shell-drive transition when the base changes under the tire path. The street side looks solid. The turn-in drops first.
One base under the turn
A shell drive and a paver apron are different materials. We do not stop the aggregate at the color change. The compacted base runs through the turn so the tire path is not sitting on a seam.
Aggregate carried through the shell-to-paver joint
Pitch that does not send stormwater at the garage
Edge restraint where the apron meets open shell
A lift joint so a future curb repair does not tear the field
Salt and the turning course
The turning course takes the most splash. Through-body color holds up better than a face coat, and we do not seal until the joints are locked and the field is dry.
