290th Street North Crystal Beach Driveway Aprons
290th Street North aprons in Crystal Beach take Gulf wind, a sandy shoulder, and cars that turn in off a narrow residential street. The pretty part of the drive is rarely the part that moves. The lip at the street is.
Why the street edge goes first
A thin sand bed under the apron looks level the week it is laid. The first wet season washes fines out at the gutter, the first course drops, and tires start clipping the concrete edge. Shell in the native soil makes that worse if it is left as the base.
We cut the apron back to a compacted aggregate base sized for cars, not a patio spec. The pitch runs to the street, not back toward the garage slab. An edge restraint on the sides stops the field from walking into the grass.
What we check before we quote
How deep the existing sand bed is at the gutter, not just at the garage
Whether irrigation or a downspout dumps onto the apron
The sidewalk or swale joint the city already owns
Room to keep a positive fall without building a hump at the street
