291st Street North Crystal Beach Courtyard Pavers
291st Street North courtyards are small outdoor rooms between the house and a screen or a fence. They hold chairs, a grill, and often a hose bib that sprays the joints every morning.
Roots, overspray, and edge
We do not pave over a surface root and hope the field stays flat. The base is compacted aggregate, cut deep enough to leave room for a root barrier where a palm or oak is staying. A concrete or aluminum edge stops the first course from creeping into the mulch.
Joint sand that is only swept in will wash out under irrigation. We compact the field, then lock the joints so the overspray does not pump sand onto the lanai. Pitch goes to a drain or the yard, never back at the slab.
Furniture load is real
A chat set and a grill are not a car, but a thin base still rocks under a chair leg after one summer. We size the base for that point load and keep the surface one plane so a table does not wobble on a lip.
Photos of the courtyard, the hose bib, and the low corner are enough to start. PaverForge Hardscapes, 727-490-9798.
