386th Street North Palm Harbor Driveway Aprons
386th Street North is a short numbered residential run in north Pinellas, in the Palm Harbor grid west of Alternate 19, where garage slabs sit higher than the old shell or sand field in front of them.
Most drives are a single car width. The apron is the piece that fails first: a sand-set throat that has walked toward the street, a plastic edge that kicked out, or a lip left after a sidewalk grind.
What we rebuild on a 386th Street North apron
We excavate the throat to a compacted aggregate base, set a restraint that can take a car, and use 80mm pavers where tires live. Thickness does not replace base. An 80mm stone on dumped sand still fails.
Pitch leaves the garage slab and meets the sidewalk without a trip lip. Utility locates happen before the first shovel. Irrigation laterals and older water services are common under these short drives.
