39th Street NE Old Northeast Aprons
39th Street NE aprons take the hit every time a car turns in off a patched or brick approach. The failure we see is a thin concrete lip that has settled, so the car bottoms out and stormwater runs back toward the garage.
Apron, sidewalk, and gutter
We measure the city approach, the sidewalk elevation, and the garage threshold before we cut anything. The new field has to meet the sidewalk without a trip lip, and it has to pitch to the gutter, not back at the slab. A rigid edge keeps the first course from walking into the street. Right-of-way work stays with the owner and the city; we build the private apron to the line we are given.
Old Northeast soil moves. A sand-only bed under an apron will rut at the tire tracks after one wet season. Compacted aggregate, a locked edge, and joints that can be refilled are the spec we use on this street and the blocks south of it.
