41st Avenue South St. Pete Paver Walks

41st Avenue South is a quiet south St. Petersburg street of mid-century houses, narrow side yards, and walks that were poured when the lot still drained to an open swale. Those walks now pond at the front step after a hard rain.

Walk repairs that stay locked

A re-lay only works if the base is still sound. On 41st Avenue South we usually find bedding sand that has washed into the lawn and an edge that has crept toward the neighbor fence. We cut the failed run, rebuild the base, and set a new walk with a slight cross-slope to the yard.

Where a tree root has heaved a panel, we prune the root only with the owner's arborist if the tree is protected, then bridge the walk on a deeper base so the same heave does not return next season. Polymeric sand goes in after the field is dry, not the same afternoon as a wash-down.
