42nd Street NE Old Northeast Courtyards
42nd Street NE rear courtyards are where the lot actually gets used: a table, a grill, and a path to the alley or the back fence. The front of the house can look finished while this square is still sand, roots, and a slab that holds water against the lanai.
Furniture first, then the field
We mark the table, the grill clearance, and the door swing before we excavate. The field is not a rectangle drawn to the fence. It stops where a chair would sit in the swale, and it pitches to that swale instead of the door track. A grill pad gets a slightly tighter joint and a spot that can be lifted if the gas line needs work.
Salt still reaches these lots on a storm. We specify through-body concrete pavers and wait on sealer until the joints have locked and the field has seen a rain. Sealing a dusty courtyard just glues the problem down.
How to start
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these courtyards from the St. Pete Beach shop. Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online. A wide photo from the lanai door is the one that matters.
