442nd Street North in Ozona is a quieter north-county block, with shell drives, raised entries, and oak roots that heave a thin walk.

A walk that ponds at the first step or rocks at the root flare is the usual call. We do not pave over the root and hope.

Walk layout

We shift the path off the flare where the tree allows, bridge the unavoidable root with a thicker base and a liftable bay, and pitch the walk off the entry toward the lawn. The field stays sand-set so a later root move does not crack a slab.

Edge restraint is pinned, not a plastic strip that kicks out in the first wet season.
