49th Avenue South St. Pete Paver Walks
Front walks on 49th Avenue South in south St. Petersburg sit under live oaks and against city sidewalks that have already been ground and raised. PaverForge Hardscapes rebuilds those walks so the field stays flush at the sidewalk and pitched off the house after the wet season.
A heaved concrete walk here is usually a root, not a bad pour. Cutting the walk out and pouring again puts the same root under a new slab. Pavers let us reset the section the next time the root moves.
Sidewalk match
The city sidewalk elevation is the control. We set the private walk to meet it without a toe-catcher. If the sidewalk was ground, the new field starts at the ground line, not at the old high joint.
Locate the root run before the saw cut
Geotextile over sugar sand so the base does not pump
Flush the walk to the sidewalk and the porch step
Leave a reset joint where the root is still live
Porch and mailbox
Mailbox posts and porch steps on this avenue often sit in the walk path. We collar the post and keep the step nosing clear so the field does not climb the riser.
