62nd Avenue NE Shore Acres Courtyards
62nd Avenue NE is the northern edge of Shore Acres, where the state-named avenues end and the lots open toward the larger canals. Courtyards on this street often sit between a higher driveway and a lower seawall walk. The paver field has to make that drop without a pond at the screen door.
We set the courtyard on a compacted base and break the slope with a step or a short retaining course rather than stretching one plane across the whole yard. Irrigation heads move to the edge so they are not buried in the field. Pool equipment, where it exists, gets its own pad so backwash does not wash the joint sand out.
Oak shade on 62nd Avenue NE keeps the pavers cooler, and it also drops leaves into open joints. A tighter joint sand and a clear path to the drain matter more than a glossy sealer. Sealer on a shaded canal court usually traps moisture and whitens.
