What a Crystal Beach courtyard needs

Irrigation heads at the bed edge wash joint sand into the planting. Furniture feet rust into the face of the stone if they sit bare. A cheap color on a thin sand bed looks finished on day one and rocks by the next wet season.

We pitch the field away from the lanai toward a drain line or a yard low point that already works. Edge restraint holds the border so the field does not creep into the bed. Joint sand is compacted and cured before irrigation is aimed back at the stones.

How to start

Photos of the lanai edge, the low corner, and the irrigation heads are enough to start. We walk the courtyard before we price it. If the existing stones are sound, a re-level is usually the better job than a full tear-out.
