What the side yard has to do

Width is the constraint. We do not steal the fence line to make a wider field. A soldier course at the gate can be swapped when the gate drags. The condensate line gets a splash collar or a clear path to the swale, not a buried low spot.

Base is compacted in the tight run. A loose sand bed pumps the first time a cart stops on it after rain. We photograph the gate swing before we lock the elevation.
