Front walks on 70th Street North fail at the sidewalk joint. The public side stays put and the private side settles, so the first step off the sidewalk is a lip.

Flush at the sidewalk

We rebuild the settled bay, set the finished elevation flush to the sidewalk, and pitch the rest of the walk to the lawn. A border keeps the long edge from walking into the grass after irrigation.

Night lighting and a mailbox plinth can land on the same path if the footing is poured, not set on the paver bed. We do not hide a low spot under polymeric sand. The sand locks a joint. It does not fix pitch.
