71st Street North St. Pete Aprons
71st Street North sits on the west side of St. Petersburg, a residential grid that shares edges with Lealman and the Pinellas Park line. Lots here are often mid-century ranches with a single-car or shallow two-car garage, a city sidewalk, and an apron that has already been patched once.
What the apron has to do
The flare is the part the city and the neighbor both notice. We measure the existing curb cut before the first saw cut, then set the paver field so the car does not scrape the garage lip and stormwater still sheets to the street instead of the stoop. A sand-only bed over native soil will rut here after the first wet season.
Utility locates come first. Older laterals, irrigation sleeves, and cable drops are common on these blocks. We excavate to a depth that leaves compacted crushed-concrete base under an 80mm driveway field, pin a rigid edge restraint, and use a soldier course that can be lifted later if a utility has to be opened.
