77th Street North St. Pete Walkways
77th Street North walks in St. Petersburg run from a public sidewalk to a stoop that is often only a few steps above grade. Live oaks heave the old concrete, and the mailbox post sits in the same strip the new path has to cross.
What we leave adjustable
The walk is pitched to the sidewalk, not ponded at the bottom step. We sleeve or collar the mailbox footing so the post can be reset without sawing the field. A restrained border keeps the first course from walking into the parkway. Where the city sidewalk is the high point, the private walk meets it with a clean joint instead of a feathered sand edge.
Pedestrian 60mm pavers are the right weight here. We still compact the base. Shade on this block stays wet, and a thin sand bed will pump fines up through the joints.
