80th Avenue North St. Pete Aprons
80th Avenue North sits in Riviera Bay, on the north St. Pete grid off 4th Street. Shore Acres Elementary is the neighborhood school, and a lot of the houses are mid-century slabs with a short drive and a city apron that has already cracked at the gutter.
What the apron has to do
The apron is the city's transition, not a place to save on base. We match the existing gutter line, keep the flare inside the right-of-way rules for that block, and pitch the private drive back toward a legal swale instead of the garage.
Excavate past the failed sand bed so the new field is not sitting on the old one
Compacted aggregate under the apron and the first private courses
Rigid edge at the property side so the field does not walk into the lawn
Joint sand locked after the field has been compacted, not before
Bayou-edge water
Riviera Bay lots can hold water after a summer storm even when the street looks dry. A thin sand set over native soil pumps up through the joints. We read the high-water mark at the apron before we set thickness.
