Clearance and fall

We keep the finished paver below the sliding-door track and any weep. The field falls away from the house toward a lawn, a drain, or a low point that already leaves the lot. A pretty pattern will not fix a reverse pitch.

Edge restraint is rigid where the field meets soil, and the joint sand is compacted so the first storm does not wash it into the bed. If the old sand base was never built, we rebuild it and reuse pavers that are still sound.
