Driftwood South St. Pete Paver Patios
Driftwood is a south St. Petersburg neighborhood near the Lakewood side of the city, with older ranch lots, oaks, and yards that shed toward the street or a low side swale. PaverForge Hardscapes installs and repairs paver patios, walks, and small pool decks here.
The usual failure is not the paver color. It is a thin sand bed over uncompacted fill, or roots that have heaved a walk since the last re-sand. We undercut soft spots, proof-roll the base, and pitch the field at about two percent so afternoon rain leaves the slider instead of pooling at the screen track.
South St. Pete summers also punish light travertine and some porcelain if the joints are not maintained. For most Driftwood patios we specify concrete pavers with a micro-chamfer at barefoot edges, polymeric sand after the plate compactor, and a soldier border that can be lifted later without tearing the field.
Root-barrier where a live oak crosses the walk alignment
Downspout tie-ins or a pop-up emitter so roof water does not wash the bedding sand
Screen-cage kick plates and thresholds rebuilt with the new field
Re-level of an existing patio when the base is still sound
