El Centro Courtyards on St. Pete Beach
El Centro is a small pocket on St. Pete Beach, between Gulf Boulevard and the beach block. Courts are short. Guest parking and the only side-yard path often share the same strip of sand.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds those courtyards with a compacted stone base, pitch, and edge restraint. Call 727-490-9798 or book at paverforge.com/book-online.
Why a thin sand bed fails here
The water table sits close. A field set on native sand settles at the gate, the hose bib, and the garage threshold. We size the base for the load it will actually see, including a car if the court is the driveway.
Excavation deep enough for compacted aggregate, not a couple of inches of bedding sand
Pitch that does not sheet toward the slab or a neighbor's low court
Edge restraint on the open side so the field does not creep
Staging that does not block the only neighbor access
Heat and salt
Afternoon sun on a dark, poorly drained court is miserable underfoot. We talk color and joint sand after the base is right. Sealing waits until the field has settled and the joints are locked.
Most El Centro calls are a settled court, a walk that rocks, or an apron that has dropped at the street. If the stones are sound, we re-level. If the base was never built, we rebuild it and reuse what we can.
