Five Points Paver Walks in South St. Petersburg
Five Points is the south St. Petersburg junction around 9th Street South and 22nd Avenue South. Lots are small, sidewalks are close to the porch, and many original walks have heaved or been patched with mismatched concrete.
Walk, stoop, and the city sidewalk
We rebuild the private walk from the stoop to the sidewalk, not over the public walk. Elevation starts at the stoop so the door still clears, then pitches to the street side. A soldier border and a rigid edge keep the first course from walking into the parkway.
Match the stoop height before ordering pavers.
Excavate to compacted aggregate. Do not set pavers on the old concrete dust.
Leave a clean joint at the city sidewalk instead of feathering onto it.
Use a through-body color that can be repaired later.
