Flush Coax and Cable Demarcation Grade Rings
The cable demarcation box, or NID, lands in the front walk on a lot of Pinellas houses. Paving over it means the technician cuts the field the next time the line fails.
What a grade ring does
A flush grade ring keeps the lid at finished paver grade and gives the box a hard edge so bedding sand does not spill in. The ring is not a collar you mortar shut. The lid has to open.
We set the ring before the field is screeded, pitch the walk away from the box, and leave a joint the polymeric sand can lock without gluing the lid. The same detail works for a phone NID beside a St. Pete Beach walk.
Do not bury it
A buried coax box is a callback. If the lid already sits below a new patio, we cut a ring and reset the surrounding stones. Call 727-490-9798.
