Flush Seawall Boarding-Gate Hinge Plates

A flush boarding-gate hinge plate keeps the seawall-cap pavers level around a dock gate hinge that still has to swing. Once the field is locked, a proud hinge leaf is a toe catch and a cart snag. What the plate is

A framed opening in the cap walk, set flush so a hose and a cart still cross it. The marine contractor owns the gate, the hinge hardware, and the bonding. We own the paver bay that stays flush and lifts later when the hinge is serviced.

We do not cut the seawall cap or relocate the hinge. We match the existing field, pin an edge restraint the hinge leaf can clear, and leave the bay liftable without pulling the whole walk.

When it is worth doing

The hinge is rocking the cap pavers, the leaf sits proud of the field, or a new gate is going in on a walk that is already locked. A trapped collar takes splash only if the cap has no other outfall.
