Davit sockets that do not crack the seawall cap

A boat davit puts lift and side load on a socket the size of a fist. On a Pinellas seawall that socket often lands in a thin patch on the cap. The cap spalls, the socket leans, and the davit is the thing everyone blames. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a flush davit-socket base plate so the load sits on a prepared pad, not on a patch.

The plate is a small reinforced pad, set flush with the cap or the dock walk so lines and bare feet do not catch an edge. It isolates the socket from a cracked cap joint and gives the davit a surface that can be checked later without opening the whole wall. We do not design the davit. We build the hardscape it bears on.

What the plate is for

Salt, washout under the cap, and a socket bolted into unrepaired concrete are the usual failure. The plate spreads that load, keeps the socket plumb to the cap, and leaves a joint that can be resealed. Where the cap already has a void, we stop and say so. A plate is not a structural repair for a failed wall.
