Flush Seawall Dock-Gate Strike Plates
A dock gate that closes against the seawall cap needs a strike the latch can find, and a plate the pavers can sit flush against. Hinge plates keep the leaf swinging. The strike plate is the other end: the receiver, the stop, and the small field that gets kicked every time someone misses the latch.
What the plate has to do
We set the strike so the gate closes without dragging the cap, and so the plate does not become a toe catch when the leaf is open. The paver collar around it is a removable section, not a field glued over the hardware. Salt water and a missed latch will chew a buried receiver. A plate that lifts lets the marine hardware be replaced without sawing the walk.
Pitch on the collar goes to the cap outfall, not into the strike pocket. If the gate is metal, the plate stays clear of the bonding path the electrician already marked. We do not bury the latch in joint sand. The opening is the size of the hardware, not a trench across the cap.
