Flush Seawall Dock-Step Nosing Plates
A dock step on a Pinellas canal lot often lands on the seawall cap a half inch proud of the pavers. Bare feet catch the nosing, and a dock cart rocks the first course until the joint opens. A flush dock-step nosing plate is a hardscape detail, not a dock rebuild: a framed bay so the step nose sits level with the cap and can still be lifted for service.
What the plate is
It is a small, framed opening in the cap walk, set flush so a hose and a cart still cross it. The frame is isolation, not structure for the wall or the step. The marine contractor owns the step, the stringers, and the fasteners. We own the paver bay that stays flush and lifts later.
How it is built
Locate the step landing with the marine contractor before the cap walk is locked. Set a rigid frame so the surrounding field can be compacted without dropping into the opening. Keep the plate flush with the cap, pitched so rinse water does not sit in the bay. We do not grout the step nose to the pavers.
PaverForge Hardscapes sets those plates on St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, and the Pinellas canal lots we already work. Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
