Flush Seawall Expansion-Joint Cover Plates
Concrete seawall caps in Pinellas are poured in segments with an expansion joint so the cap can move with temperature and with the wall. Left open, that joint fills with sand, shells, and paver bedding. Left raised with a surface caulk bead, it becomes a trip edge where a paver landing meets the cap.
What a flush cover plate does
A flush expansion-joint cover plate is a thin stainless or composite plate recessed into the cap so the joint can still open and close. The top of the plate matches the cap and the adjacent paver landing. It is screwed, not glued, so a marine contractor can lift it and see the joint filler.
Recessed seat cut into the cap, not a surface-mounted strip
Plate spans the joint without locking the two cap segments together
Fasteners in the cap, clear of the joint filler
Landing pavers stopped at the plate so they are not asked to bridge the joint
What it does not do
A cover plate is a hardscape detail. It does not repair tie-rods, sheet-pile clutches, or a cap that has already separated. If the joint is widening because the wall is moving, that is a marine-contractor question before any plate goes in. PaverForge sets the plate and the landing once the wall contractor clears the cap.
