Flush Seawall Fender-Wheel Recess Plates
A dock fender wheel is supposed to roll along the seawall and keep the hull off the cap. On a lot of Pinellas docks the wheel sits on open joint sand or a chipped concrete edge, so every tide grinds the cap and walks the wheel out of line.
What the recess plate does
A flush fender-wheel recess plate is a restrained paver or concrete collar set level with the dock walk. The wheel has a hard seat, the plate is flush so a bare foot does not catch it, and the cap joint is no longer the wear surface.
Where it fails
The usual failure is a wheel bolted to a timber that has cupped, or a plate that was set proud of the pavers. Salt water sits in the cup, the fastener rusts, and the cap spalls at the bolt. We set the plate in the field, not on top of it, and we keep the drain path off the fastener.
How to start
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 with a photo of the wheel, the cap edge, and the dock walk. We set recess plates with seawall cap work and dock landing pads across St. Pete Beach, Tierra Verde, and the Intracoastal lots we already serve.
