Flush Seawall Fire-Extinguisher Cabinet Recess Plates
A dock walk that adds a fire-extinguisher cabinet on top of the seawall cap creates a toe catch and a cracked border the first time a cart wheel hits it. A recess plate is the paver detail that keeps the cabinet in the field instead of on it.
What the plate is
We frame a bay in the seawall-cap pavers to the cabinet footprint the owner or dock builder supplies. The bay sits flush with the walking surface, the border course is restrained, and the plate can lift later without saw-cutting the whole cap. This is a hardscape recess. It is not a fire-equipment install and it does not certify the extinguisher.
Salt, pitch, and access
The recess gets a slight pitch so washdown water does not sit in the bay. Fasteners are stainless where the cabinet calls for them. We keep the bay out of the pile line and out of any existing cap joint that already moves.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these recess plates with seawall-cap and dock-edge paver work across Pinellas. Call 727-490-9798 or book at paverforge.com/book-online. Send the cabinet cut sheet and a photo of the cap.
