Flush Seawall Grab-Rail Post Plates
A grab-rail post takes a leaning load and salt spray. Once that post is grouted into the seawall-cap pavers, the next replacement saw-cuts the walk. A flush post plate keeps one bay liftable.
What the plate is
It is a framed bay in the cap walk around the base of a stair rail or dock grab rail. The post anchors into the plate, not into the field. When the rail is out, the plate sits flush with the pavers so the walk is still a walk.
Stainless or composite anchors, not bare steel that stains the first course
A weep path so salt water does not pond under the frame
The plate isolated from the field so a future post swap does not crack the cap
Set with the walk, not bolted on after the joints are locked
Where it belongs
Canal lots, private dock stairs, and any seawall cap that already has a rail. The plate does not replace a marine contractor's post design. It keeps the hardscape from becoming the thing that has to be destroyed when the rail is serviced.
