Flush Seawall Hawse-Pipe Collars
A hawse pipe on a boat is the opening a mooring line passes through. On a Pinellas seawall the same wear shows up where a line-lead sleeve cuts the cap. Bare concrete gets sawn by the line, and the notch becomes a trip edge and a crack starter.
A flush hawse-pipe collar is a finished concrete ring around that sleeve, set level with the cap walk so the line bears on a protected opening instead of the cap edge.
What the collar is, and is not
It finishes the line opening. It does not replace the seawall cap
It is set flush so it is not a toe-catch on the cap walk
The sleeve stays clear so the line can run without chewing concrete
Cap repair, if the concrete is already cracked through, is a separate structural call
We set the collar when the cap surface is sound enough to bond to, and we do not hide a failed cap under a cosmetic ring. Salt spray and line chafe are the reason the opening needs a finished edge in the first place.
