Flush Seawall Kayak-Rack Footing Plates
A kayak rack bolted through a finished seawall walk leaves a trip edge and a crack ring. The posts rock in the wind, the joint sand leaves, and the field opens around the feet.
What the plate does
A flush footing plate gives each post a restrained pad that sits level with the cap walk. The bolts land in the plate, not in a loose paver. The surrounding field can be lifted later without cutting the rack out of the pattern.
We set the plate on a compacted base, restrain the edge, and keep the top flush so a hose and a bare foot both clear it. Salt air still reaches the hardware, so the plate is a service point, not a buried anchor.
When to add one
Add the plates when the rack is new, or when the existing feet have already opened the walk. Send a photo of the cap and the rack spacing. PaverForge Hardscapes, 727-490-9798, St. Pete Beach.
