Flush Seawall Settlement Tell-Tale Plates
A flush seawall settlement tell-tale plate is a small access plate set into the paver walk or cap so a marine surveyor can read a mark, a crack gauge, or a reference point on the wall without cutting the patio open later. PaverForge builds the plate and the surrounding hardscape. PaverForge does not diagnose or repair the seawall.
Why the plate is flush
Caps along Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, and the Intracoastal already collect sand, lines, and dock hardware. A raised box becomes a trip edge between the patio and the dock. A recessed plate with a liftable lid stays in the walking surface and can be opened when the marine contractor needs the mark.
Plate sized to the surveyor's mark, not to a random drain grate.
Frame isolated from the paver field so wall movement does not telegraph into every joint.
Lid seated flush and fastened so it does not rattle underfoot.
No claim that the plate stops settlement, scour, or a failed tie-back.
Marine contractor keeps the structural scope, including any tell-tale the engineer specified.
What to ask before the patio is finished
If a surveyor or marine contractor has already flagged movement, mark the reading point before the pavers go down. Retrofitting a plate means a cut in a finished field. PaverForge coordinates the opening with that trade and keeps the walk serviceable. Phone 727-490-9798. Service notes are at paverforge.com/services.
This is a finish and access detail for Pinellas waterfront lots, including St. Pete Beach, Shore Acres, and Old Northeast seawalls. It is not a substitute for a seawall inspection.
