Flush Seawall Survey-Monument Access Plates
A brass survey disk or property corner set in a seawall cap disappears the first time someone overlays the walk. On Pinellas canal lots we cut a flush access plate into the new field so the mark stays readable and the pavers do not heave around a raised disk.
What the plate is for
This is not a decorative inlay. It is a collar and lid, set flush with the finished pavers, sized to the disk or the mark the surveyor still needs. If the point is an official control mark, we do not move it. We build around it and flag it for the surveyor.
Locate the disk before demolition, not after the cap is ground
Flush plate so the walk has no trip lip
Isolation from the paver field so the lid can come up without breaking the pattern
Pitch that keeps standing water off the mark
When we stop
If the mark is loose, paved over already, or sitting in a failed cap, we stop and call it out. A new plate on a moving wall does not preserve anything. The wall and the surveyor come first.
