Flush Seawall Swim-Platform Hinge Plates
A swim platform hinges off a seawall or dock so the deck can fold up in a storm. Once the cap walk is paved over those hinge feet, the only way to reset a loose pin is to tear the field up. A flush hinge plate keeps one bay liftable.
What the plate is
It is a framed opening in the cap walk, set flush so a hose and a cart still cross it. The frame is isolation, not structure for the platform. The marine contractor owns the hinge, the pins, and the load path. PaverForge owns the paver bay that lets someone service it later. The plate does not carry the platform.
How it is built
Locate the hinge line with the marine contractor before the walk is locked. Set a rigid frame so the surrounding field can be compacted without dropping into the opening. Keep the plate flush with the cap walk and pitched so it does not become a pond. We come back to reset the walk once the hinge is where they say it is.
