Georgia Avenue NE Shore Acres Courtyards
Georgia Avenue NE runs through Shore Acres, the canal neighborhood east of 4th Street. Courtyards here sit on sandy fill. A pretty paver on a thin sand bed will dish after one wet season, especially where a screen cage post was dug in and backfilled loose.
Shore Acres courtyard spec
We compact a stone base, pitch the field off the house, and use edge restraint that does not rust out in salt air. Screen-cage posts and downspouts get a planned joint so the pavers are not cut tight against a footing that will move.
Base rebuilt where fill was never compacted
Pitch away from the slider and the lanai slab
Salt-air edge restraint, not a thin plastic strip at the lawn
Cage-post and downspout joints left so the field can be lifted later
